The castle on this place existed as early as the 20th century, but then it was destroyed. The construction of the new castle and its adjacent palace, which reached the present day, was started in 1528 by the chief of the royal stables de Montmorancy.
Through the century, the owners of the estate of Shantii became the aristocratic genus Condé, who invited distinguished architects, sculptors and painters of the time to decorate the palace and castle. In the 17 century, when powerful siege guns emerged, the role of castles as defense structures began to decline. Many became luxurious palaces, some survived by the will of the occasion, and from most remained only ruins.
During the French Revolution period, Shantii was severely damaged and, of course, looted by the revolutionaries. Only the Capitenri palace ensemble survived. In the late 19 century, the last owner of the castle, built the New Castle and transferred Shatii, along with collections of painting and sculpture, to the gift of France.
